Popularity translates to reliability in the construction and engineering professions, and now, AutoCAD finally entering the Mac market speaks volumes about the product’s demand. That said, AutoCAD has many more uses than solely putting together blueprints.įor anyone with an eye for design, AutoCAD proves a valuable asset for getting graphic design concepts off the ground. AutoCAD is the flagship for CAD software, the standard tool that drafters or architects call upon for computerized assistance in drawing up plans for buildings. CAD is valuable for architects, engineers, and construction professionals, who can use it to reliably create precision 2D and 3D drawings. He pointed out the drives do more than just boot the servers, they also store log files and temporary files produced by the servers, and so each SSD will read, write, and delete files depending on the activity of the server during the day.Jeremy Milliner Updated 8 months ago Industry-leading CAD design softwareĪutoCAD is an industry-leading program for computer-aided design (CAD). In a blog post detailing the latest probing, Backblaze cloud storage evangelist Andy Klein said the SSDs are all used as boot drives in the firm's storage servers, and that Backblaze only began using SSDs this way from Q4 of 2018. The 2021 Drive Stats report was published in February. Backblaze said it will initially publish the SSD edition twice a year, but that this may change depending on how valuable readers find it. The cloud storage and backup provider publishes quarterly and annual Drive Stat reports, which focused exclusively on rotating hard drives until last year. Evidently the designers thought that wasn't particularly sexy or expensive looking, so saved its modesty.īackblaze has published the first SSD edition of its regular drive statistics report, which appears to show that flash drives are as reliable as spinning disks, although with surprising failure rates for some models. The battery area is obscured by inlaid stripes. The retail unit reviewed here is the translucent model, subtly allowing a view of the phone's innards. The red model's "Liquid Surface" design is purposefully far more assertive than the subtle colour change of the Huawei P20 models. The rear glass comes in iridescent red/yellow – a different hue to last year's Solar Red model – and a "blue" (which doesn't look blue at all) with a translucent back. The display panel forms a distinct ridge over the aluminium, reminding me of the sharp-edged HTC One M9. It feels considerably lighter than its 188g.

It's actually packing in a lot of phone but with the mass tapering away into your palm, this is a phone built for comfort.

It incorporated a comfortable, curved design that felt great in the hand, and which (strangely, or not so strangely – a boxy square design is always reminding you of its edges) made the phone feel lighter than it was. This isn't always an improvement, but what made the U11 so appealing was its design. Apple switched to all-glass last year, and this year many phones have glass backs too. Last year HTC was the outlier with its striking, two-tone, all-glass U11 flagship. A U12 Minus would win a warm recommendation. Which is why that pledge needs to be revisited. If the HTC U12+ had regular buttons (this device could be called "HTC U12 Minus", as in Minus the Pressure Sensitive Buttons), it would be up there with the year's best smartphones. But I'll go into this in more depth below. This flaw alone makes the 12+ hard to recommend. HTC continues to sell (but not in the US) the outstanding HTC 11+ ( currently £566.10 to Club members – membership is free). Unfortunately, it is hard to find any aspect of the experience with the PSBs superior to using the physical buttons on the HTC U12+'s predecessors. And HTC has a proud history of trailblazing innovations like an all-aluminium design, and stereo front-facing speakers that set a high standard and were widely copied. Fewer moving parts should make for a more reliable phone. Apple successfully replaced the iPhone's home button and (somewhat successfully) switched out the MacBook Pro's trackpad for a Force Touch haptic design that artificially generates vibration feedback. Haptic functions don't necessarily have to be inferior to the mechanical switch designs they replace.
